Johanna Gravelle appointed Managing Director of Panavision Canada

Gravelle will continue the company’s commitment to supporting the filmmaking community with best-in-class optics, cameras and service.

TORONTO, Can. (March 29, 2023) – Panavision, the entertainment industry’s leading designer, manufacturer and rental provider of high precision optics and camera systems, today announced the appointment of Johanna Gravelle as Managing Director of Panavision Canada. Her new role follows almost six years of service as the region’s National Sales Manager and coincides with the retirement of long-time Panavision veteran Paul Mason. As Mason exits after a 30-year tenure, holding the positions of Senior VP and CFO of Panavision Canada, Gravelle will oversee operations and lead the camera and optics business in the region.

Gravelle joined Panavision Canada as National Sales Manager in 2017, with a 27-year run holding senior sales and marketing roles at Kodak. Since her arrival at Panavision Canada, she’s been a key driver of the company’s sales efforts, leading the sales teams based in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax.

“Johanna’s experience in, and in-depth knowledge of, the Canadian camera and optics market means she’s the perfect person to take over the role of Managing Director,” said Kim Snyder, Panavision CEO. “Paul has been an integral part of the Panavision family and we wouldn’t be where we are today without his tireless dedication and leadership of the team. We’re looking forward to seeing Johanna continue to build Panavision Canada and use her expertise to lead the business and support customers throughout the region.”

“It’s been a great experience working as National Sales Manager the past few years, and I’m eager to take on my new role as Managing Director and the opportunities that will come with it,” said Gravelle. “I look forward to continuing to work with Panavision’s locations throughout Canada to serve productions across the region.”

With facilities in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Halifax, Panavision Canada is well-equipped to support the production industry across the country. Recent productions serviced by the Canadian offices include the long-running series Heartland, award-winning projects Women Talking and Firefly Lane, as well as Hulu’s new show, Washington Black, that’s set to premiere later this year.
