Filter Technician - Hollywood, CA

Responsible for assisting customers and providing technical support with camera/lens filtration and any other prep related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Provide direct technical support to customers on Panavision filters and any other prep related issues.
•    Clean and inspect all incoming filters for damages and verify damage tickets have been made for any damages found.
•    Pull all filters for preps, orders and internal use.
•    Expedite all time sensitive orders for filters (emergency, air freight, FedEx/UPS and am/pm runs). 
•    Follow up on orders placed with vendors.
•    Maintain all working functions of the filter department. 
•    Maintain barcodes on all filters shipped and received.
•    Process damage reports in a timely manner (same day filters are received).
•    Inform manager of any shortages and maintain stock levels. Forecast required filters for future preps.
•    Recommend any future filter requirements.
•    Field all technical calls regarding filter functions and specifications.
•    Physically deliver filters and equipment to and from all departments.
•    Maintain a neat and organized filter area per Panavision’s health and safety standards.
•    Uphold and follow safety guidelines and precautions to prevent injuries and accidents.

Skills/Experience Required:

•    Basic knowledge of film production or prior experience in film production.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of Panavision’s filter inventory and the look that they can achieve.
•    Extensive working knowledge of Panavision matte boxes and filter holders.
•    Understanding of Panavision filter maintenance requirements (servicing, troubleshooting and storage).
•    Understanding of Panavision’s health and safety standards and requirements.
•    Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to maintain a professional relationship with the customer and internal departments.
•    Effective written and verbal communication skills.
•    Strong organizational and follow through skills with attention to detail.
•    Ability to work in Pinnacle and Pinnacle Explorer
•    Lift up to 20 pounds consistently on a daily basis.
•    Ability to multi-task and remain flexible towards changes in scheduled duties on a daily basis.
•    Ability to work on own initiative without constant supervision.
•    Able to work under pressure with strict time constraints and maintaining high performance standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms.  The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Prompt and regular on-site attendance is required. This position is a full time (40 hours per week) position.  Employees are expected to begin work at the start of their scheduled shift and to complete their assigned work shift according to the responsibilities of their position.

This position works standard business hours each week. May require overtime and weekend work.


Some out-of-state/country and overnight travel may be expected.
