Mechanical Engineer - Woodland Hills, CA

The Panavision Rapid Response and Mechanical Engineering Teams (R2E) are an Agile co-located, cross-discipline, cross-functional group of people who put their creative and technical aptitude to the test every day.  We deliver innovative and engaging solutions for both our external and internal clients frequently, with style, under pressure and to strict deadlines. You will be responsible for the collaborative design, documentation and development of mechanical components to augment new rapidly deployed camera related accessories and modules.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Generate design layouts based on product mechanical, structural and ergonomic features as identified in the Project Backlog.
•    Produce CAD files and/or design and detail documents for prototyping as necessary.
•    Co-ordinate prototype printing or machining and assembly for the project.
•    Evaluate prototype designs for manufacturability, robustness, and serviceability.
•    Review and revise designs for production release and oversee production release documentation if required.
•    Collaborate with manufacturing to facilitate production. 
•    Mentor and support less experienced Engineers to help them find success.

Skills and Experience Required:

•    An ability to function in a challenging and fast paced environment with deadlines.
•    2 - 5 years of successful mechanical development experience.
•    Thorough understanding of common materials and related mechanical structural design principles and methods. 
•    Detailed understanding of machining processes.
•    BS degree required; MS degree preferred or demonstrable equivalent experience.
•    3D Solid Modeling CAD program capabilities.
•    Experience with FEA and CFD tools.
•    Extreme attention to detail.
•    Strong follow-through skills – ability to guide complex projects from inception to completion. 
•    Creative technical problem solving.
•    Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
•    Excellent communication and reporting skills. 


•    Experience working with additive manufacturing processes and associated materials.
•    Creo Parametric experience preferred.
•    Experience with electro-mechanical design and integration.
•    Functional understanding of the principles of Agile team processes.
•    ProMechanica and/or Ansys Icepak experience.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position works standard business hours, but may require long hours and some weekend work.


Some out-of-state/country and overnight travel may be expected.
